Annual Report 2025

GHG removals and GHG mitigation projects financed through carbon credits

HHLA uses external climate change mitigation projects (Verified Emission Reductions using Gold Standard ) outside its value chain to comply with TÜV Nord Standard TN-CC-020 for the HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder and the HHLA Pure product range. These climate change mitigation projects are not taken into account when calculating the Group’s overall carbon footprint (Scope 1 and 2 calculation). In the reporting period, the total quantity of carbon emissions certificates came to 60,513 tonnes of CO2 for 2024. The planned cancellations of carbon emissions certificates amount to around 65 thousand tonnes of CO2 for 2025 and are based on agreements with TÜV-Nord.
